I bet a certain percentage of every blog is making excuses for not blogging. But not here.

Musings of the week:

Got my absentee ballot for the US election. I'm surprised the Green Party isn't on the ballot. Hopefully they're just saving up for 2020! I usually love ballot questions, but Pennsylvania's are dull this year. Although they do provide an interesting study of the run-on sentence - even in spanish. It's interesting what kinds of decisions every gets to vote on. Does it really need to go to a public vote whether or not the Parks Department and the Recreation Department are merged into a Parks & Recreation Department? yawn. California always gets cool ballot initiatives. This year they have one which would require half of its energy to be from renewable sources by 2025. Why doesn't every state put that question to voters? Even if rejected, at least it's a question that will get people empowered and thinking about the future.

This is my crazy week mentioned in a previous post. Today I had an interesting concert in the evening called 'Season Preview 2009'. The concept is to invite former APO subscribers to a narrated concert of teasers from next years season. We went from 5 minutes of Schumman symphony to 5 minutes of Mozart piano concerto to 2 minutes of Webern to Copland, Puccini, Prokofiev, etc. It was a clever idea that worked i think - it was a happy packed house and the orchestra played well.

Tomorrow is my busiest day. Between 10AM and 10PM I'm NOT rehearsing for only 2.5 hours!
Two rehearsals for the big APO Debussy 'Images' concert coming up on thursday, and a Beethoven quintet rehearsal and a Beethoven septet rehearsal. I'm going to make a bold statement now: On the 15th of October 2008, I will be the busiest horn player in the world! Until I go to bed that is. Then horn players in europe and americas will start their days.

I'm also busy trying to get my former teacher Danny Katzen work in new zealand, as he's told me he's being awarded international travel funds.

Yesterday I flipped off a cop. ooops! It was an accident! at least I was subtle. I get defensive when cars drive up behind me when I'm going quite fast and honk their horn at me. After the honking it passed me in the completely empty outside lane - only then did I see the flashing lights.

A word of advice to impatient and frequent callers like myself: never ever use a credit card at a payphone. I just discovered that a ten minute call cost me $40! eek.

Camille and I must be soulmates because last week we both got identical beauty zits above our lip in the same exact spot!
