There's really nothing like getting something in the mail to make your day. And today I got the loveliest birthday package from Carl. It was full of colorful little things, and at the bottom there were two little packets of "golden joy" tea. i decided to make the tea, and it impressed me so much I had to take some pictures. What came out of the package was a hard lump of tea leaves about the size and shape of an acorn (the nut, not the scandal) and when I poured hot water over it, the tea bloomed into an amazing flower which looked like a string of white peonies floating up out of a grassy patch, with some reddish flowers in between.
The package also included a sweet notebook with a drawing of a camellia flower and some japanese printing, and a set of stationary from chinatown with little script in the border that reads, "I like the life surrounded by neat and beautiful tableware. My hobby is collecting tableware." I can't help wondering if the pretty script on the japanese notebook says something equally humorous in japanese...
Oh, and Carl also sent one of the now-famous bacon combs... and it was even sadder than I imagined!!
