Saved from the brink

The future of our blog was put in major jeopardy this week as we had a computer crisis. I quite possibly dropped our laptop (asus eee pc), causing 3/4s of the screen to rupture into a permanent psychodilic display of flashing coloros and spider shapes, fading into blackness at the center. Oh no! I could see that underneath the computer was working just as always so after a couple of days of denial followed by a day contemplating the far deeper dent of a thousand dollar replacement, I thought of a way to fix the screen.

A few years previous I had bought Camille the same computer as I had, but its power supply had since broken. But its screen was presumably working fine. So I took both computers apart and replaced the working screen from the broken computer with the broken screen from the working computer (note from Camille: this was seriously GENIUS, Carl!)

Yesterday after our first rehearsal of the year, we piled into the car with friends Emma, Jill and Henry to Muriwai Beach for some awesome bodyboarding:

And dune running on the famous black sands:

Muriwai is also famous as the summer nesting grounds of the austalian Gannet:

On the boardwalk above the gannets:

In other news.
Camille made a scrumptious blueberry buttermilk cake topped with borage flowers from the garden:
