US Election madness/sadness

Election season madness has officially been out of control since Sarah Palin was announced as McCain's veep. It's so painful to follow as the rhetoric takes americans out to left field just when sanity should be so important.

Example: I always thought that the ideal president should be someone americans identify as being smarter than average, not someone who's main selling point is identifying AS an average american. When did a lack of education become a good thing, while having the best education available is a liability?

Example: How can americans actually believe McCain would be an agent of change in the white house when the policies he's proposed are nearly identical to Bush?

The Republican strategy seems to be banking on the majority of americans being a lot Trig-ier than I'd hope.

Everyone I know is afraid of how this election may prove them right.
