Yesterday I had a long busy day. The first APO concert of the year was a cheesy showtunes affair on beautiful Waiheke Island, just a 40 minute ferry ride from Auckland. I have an additional job with the orchestra as a roadie - the guys who get to move all the stands, chairs, percussion, double basses, and in this case tents and souvenir hats and umbrellas. I arrived at work at 8:30AM to carpool to the ferry, wait for the ferry, ride the ferry, ride to Cable Bay Vineyard where the concert was, set up tents, set up the stage:

then an hour break under an olive tree in the sun:

Then a dress rehearsal, followed by a yummy buffet dinner provided for the orchestra. I had 3rds on the sweet potato spinach pie. And 3rds on the pavlova cake! Then it was show time at 7:30

Followed by more rodie work. We had to work frantically in order to be done in time to catch the 11PM ferry back to auckland.

I'm a bit sore today from all the lifting, but pleased to have the work. Now it's back to outfitting my new flat. I borrowed a van from the APO to pick up furniture a few days ago - pictures of my flat when it's starting to look like a home. Less than 2 weeks to make it happen before camille arrives!
